Spring into Summer

IMG_0001

I have experienced a slow, steady assortment of activities and visual work this spring, spending more time inside than I would like, hence more musings than images to share. The Journey Daybook continues to keep me busy. I function as the founder and blog-keeper and I try to attend most retreats, adventures, and am engaged in service work at the Florida Women’s Reception Center, a prison in Lowell, FL. Please visit the Journey Daybook site to see and read about our varied activities. I am in the midst of updating both this and the JDB site and their respective blogs – a process that is daunting, to say the least. If any of you can offer some simple tips to changing themes in WordPress, I would be most grateful for your help.

I made the image above a few weeks ago when I was sick of being inside dealing with practicalities. I drew and painted the flourishing plant from my kitchen window. This amaryllis plant grows in a pot near my driveway. It was a Christmas gift, probably 15 years ago or longer, from one of my oldest friends, Gretchen. I love it for its incredible bright color and this year, with all the rain we have had, the leaves and the blooms are dramatically huge. This journey daybook page represents my transition from the cool, rainy spring into the warmth of summer.

  1. I just love this watercolor and to know that Gretchen gave it to you 15 years ago is even more amazing. So glad you are out of the dreary rain time and into the warmth and gaiety of summer. Love, Carroll

  2. Thanks, Carroll. The rain has been good. I think that the 40 days of Lent has given me lots of time for reflection, which is also good.
