Preparing for the August Urban Sketchers Workshop

MPH.7.13.13Several weeks ago I learned about an upcoming workshop sponsored by the Urban Sketchers and taught by two young artists in Montreal. Since I love to be a student at least once each year and I was impressed by the work of Marc and Shari, I decided to sign up for this one. The goal is to develop our skills of drawing and finishing our pages pm site quickly. You can read more about the Urban Sketchers – an international non-profit drawing fellowship – at their website. The Journey Daybook and the Urban Sketchers share some of the same missions.

MPH.7.14.13So, I have been practicing. A few days ago, I made the commitment to make a journey daybook page each day through the end of this month. I intended to go out yesterday; however it rained most of the day. Therefore, I made a page late in the afternoon by looking through my kitchen window and drawing my neighbor’s beautiful historical house. I celebrated today, Bastille Day, by stopping at Fanning Springs State Park after mass in Cross City. I cast my fly rod and then made a page from on a beautiful, breezy afternoon as I stood under a tree by the Suwannee River.
